QUICK RELEASE MOORING HOOKS – JETTIES
Our quick release mooring hooks type GMH are especially designed to guarantee safe and efficient mooring operations at oil, gas, LNG, chemical, iron, coal and grain jetties. All hooks are available in single and multiple assemblies and can be equipped with a wide range of options.
The GMH mooring hook can be operated manually with a minimum effort, even at full SWL. A two-step release mechanism prevents accidental opening. All our quick release mooring hooks can be reset manually by means of a simple rotation movement. Rubber blocks absorb the energy impact during the release.
All hooks are tested in our own factory on our calibrated 3,500 kN hydraulic testing machine and all test certificates will be issued as a part of the user manual and construction file. If requested, the test can be witnessed by a classification authority of your choice.
Our quick release mooring hooks are available in a range of 40 – 200 tons (SWL per hook).
Typical mooring hook configurations:
- single mooring hooks units;
- double mooring hook units;
- triple mooring hook units;
- quadruple mooring hook units;
- multiple back-to-back mooring hook units.
On request we can design and produce customized quick release mooring hook units, based on specific requirements. In case of replacement of existing hooks, we can adjust our design to meet the dimensions and patterns of the existing anchors.
Our quick release mooring hooks can be supplied with a wide range of options, such as:
- integrated vertical capstans;
- rope keepers;
- integrated hydraulic power pack for automatic release;
- remote release system by a control panel or wireless system;
- integrated load pins;
- mooring load monitoring system (MLMS) both locally and remote controlled by software;
- stand alone power supply system based on solar panels;
- explosion proof components, certified in conformance with ATEX or IECex.
Besides the benefits to use our quick release mooring hooks for safe mooring operations, we can supply additional solutions to obtain even more safe, secure and efficient mooring and berthing operations. Known as the collective term “Berthing Aid Systems (BAS)” we can supply the following solutions:
- mooring load monitoring system (MLMS);
- laser docking system (LDS), also known as speed approach system;
- environmental monitoring system (EMS);
- portable devices showing all data of above solutions.
All separate solutions can be integrated in our sophisticated software system.
Test of a quick release mooring hook
This movies shows a typical release test of one of our quick release mooring hooks at our factory in Zwijndrecht. All hooks are tested at our Class 1 – 3500 kN. hydraulic testing machine. For most projects the tests are eye witnessed by a surveyor of a third party / classification society.
Each quick release mooring hook will be tested at 150% of the safe working load (SWL). Besides that the hooks undergo a release performance test at SWL (100%).
Our clients are welcome in our factory to attend the tests as well!
At the factory in Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands Straatman has in-house design, engineering, production and testing facilities. This is the main reason why we are able to fully assure the quality of our processes and products. This is a great advantage for our clients, which we are very proud of.
Our clients are welcome in our factory in every stage of the project, from raw material registration (traceability) till final factory acceptance tests. This gives our clients the opportunity to witness all QC activities which are defined to achieve our reliable products and services.
